Our Mission

We seek to provide a safe place of rest from financial challenges for Black women undergoing breast cancer treatments. Our goal is to secure financial assistance, emotional assistance, and support for these patients through the help of businesses, organizations, and the community. Leslie’s Haven assists Black breast cancer patients in finding temporary financial refuge from medical expenses. We understand that breast cancer strikes Black women more aggressively and more quickly which makes the medical care that addresses these forms of cancer more costly with the cost escalating faster. Our foundation provides Black women with financial, spiritual, and emotional guidance, thus allowing them precious time to focus on their health — not mounting medical bills — as they walk their cancer journey.

Leslie’s mission was to love life and share her faith in God’s grace.

About Leslie

Leslie Renee Russell was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. Her earthly body ultimately surrendered to the disease, however, her spirit remained unbowed. She battled cancer with grace, leaning on principles of sisterhood and service to sustain her during the ups and downs of chemotherapy. Even on her lowest days, she never missed an opportunity to uplift and be there for someone else. Leslie’s journey is a reflection of faith, fortitude, and community, and we hope to carry this spirit on through Leslie’s Haven.
